You’ll find all-seeing, all-doing, guardian of guest experience, Sam Eyitayo – our Front of House Manager – in so many different parts of the hotel on any given day, you’ll think he has a stunt double.
The ultimate multi-tasker, Sam is a hospitality expert with over a decade of industry experience, skillfully managing the full suite of hotel operations here, from housekeeping, front office, maintenance, and food & beverage.
Born and raised in Botswana, of Nigerian citizenship and origin, Sam brings his worldly experience and love for travel to our boutique hotel, which has not only been designed for travellers by travellers, but is run day-to-day by travellers too.
As a passionate globetrotter, Sam knows all the ins and outs of making the most out of any trip, with top tips for every must-see spot in Sydney.

I love destinations that offer beautiful views, great food, easy exploration, and plenty of time to unwind. Give me a stunning outlook, room service and a peaceful environment, and I’m happy!
WHAT’S YOUR FONDEST TRAVEL MEMORY?
Travelling to Kasane in Botswana and experiencing the stunning Okavango Delta. It is truly a once‑in‑a‑lifetime moment.
WHERE WILL WE FIND YOU ON A TYPICAL DAY IN THE HOTEL?
Either coordinating with housekeeping, maintenance our admin teams, or working alongside our hosts and kitchen teams.
WHAT ANIMAL BEST REPRESENTS YOUR WORK PERSONALITY?
Probably a leopard. Not loud, moves decisively when it matters, and strong under pressure.
WHERE WAS THE LAST PLACE YOU TOOK A TRIP?
Narrabeen in New South Wales. Beautiful beaches, a calming atmosphere, and perfect for a weekend escape.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT SYDNEY?
Almost everything you want to experience is available locally in Sydney, in one form or another. It’s a place with an incredible blend of cultures, with people bringing the best of their home countries and sharing it here.
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO SPEND A SUNNY DAY IN SYDNEY? AND A RAINY ONE?
On a sunny day, the beach, without question. On a rainy day, you’ll likely find me at home with a good book or enjoying food and drinks with friends.
WHAT’S YOUR BEVERAGE OF CHOICE AND WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO GET IT IN SYDNEY?
I love mixed drinks, especially cocktails and mocktails. PS40 is my current favourite spot – the Africola cocktail is a standout.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN PYRMONT AND IN GREATER SYDNEY?
In Pyrmont, walking along the water toward the Sydney Fish Markets with views over Darling Harbour is always a highlight. In Sydney, nothing beats the view from the Royal Botanic Garden overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is an iconic reminder that you’re in one of the world’s premier destinations.
WHAT IS THE MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE SPOT IN THE HOTEL?
Definitely two places I can think of which are a The Balcony room which comes with a – you guessed it – balcony, showing a simply glorious view of the harbour, or by the couch in Wayfarer’s Bar & Café where the sunset lobby painting of ‘1788 BLACKWATTLE BAY’ gives a wonderful background.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DISH ON THE WAYFARER’S MENU?
The Chicken Fajita Wrap is my favourite. It’s oven-baked marinated chicken with sriracha, sumac, coleslaw, harissa mayo and fried onion. Light, filling and always delicious.
WHICH ROOM WOULD YOU STAY IN IF YOU WERE A HOTEL GUEST?
Definitely The City Seeker Room. I love a super comfy room with views across Pyrmont Bridge and the city, so you can see Sydney showing off its spectacular sparkling lights. It’s perfect for me.
