Meander the historical village centre of Pyrmont
The geographical heart of Pyrmont, Union Square was once a busy roadway from Harris Street down to the harbour, where a ferry would take passengers across the water to the city. It was later extended to run across Pyrmont Bridge back when it allowed vehicle access.
Now a pedestrian-only square, almost everything at Union Square has been heritage listed from the rows of terrace houses to the Harlequin Inn pub, Banquerie Cafe, two bank buildings, post office, and the War Memorial statue. Union Square plays a pivotal role in Pyrmont’s community from hosting Christmas carols, pop-up markets and ANZAC Day memorials.
