Soak up art and water views at this popular Pyrmont park
Set by the harbour on the eastern side of the ANZAC Bridge, Waterfront Park is a local favourite, combining parkland and sprawling grassy areas with BBQ and playground equipment, all with stunning water views. The park is dotted with several artistic installments, including three huge rusted steel balls, or “digesters”,salvaged from the site, which formerly housed the famed Colonial Sugar Refinery (CSR) factory operating from 1870s to 1990s. There’s also a sculpture installation, Metamorphosis, the pieces of which, like the basic elements of the site, remain constant, only their orientation and one’s perception of them changes. The park is a perfect spot to picnic, barbeque or place to sit back, relax and enjoy the serenity.
